On 16 June 2025, the AI-on-Demand (AIoD) platform took centre stage at the first International Workshop on Smart AI Models and Data Sharing and Monetisation (SmartAIDa), held in Cork, Ireland, as part of the IEEE SMARTCOMP conference. Co-organised with the DATAMITE project, the workshop addressed key priorities for AIoD: enabling trustworthy data and model sharing, ensuring data quality, and promoting responsible innovation across Europe.

The AIoD platform is building Europe’s central hub for AI tools, services, and resources. SmartAIDa directly supported this mission by exploring how AI models and datasets can be reused, shared, and monetised without compromising on quality, fairness, or transparency. The workshop brought together experts to examine both the technical and governance dimensions needed to support a robust AI ecosystem.

SmartAIDa brought together experts to explore both technical solutions and governance frameworks for data and model sharing. A central theme was the need for quality over quantity, highlighted by keynote speaker Dr Jordi Arjona (Instituto Tecnológico de Informática) in his talk “AI & Data Spaces: The Rise of the (Data) Quality.” He argued that as generative AI and data spaces evolve, the utility and reliability of data are becoming more valuable than volume alone.

The workshop exemplified how AI4Europe is not just a platform but a growing community, actively engaging with researchers, developers, and policymakers to shape Europe’s AI future. SmartAIDa reaffirmed the platform’s role as a catalyst for responsible AI development—supporting the reuse, sharing, and monetisation of trustworthy data and models across sectors.
